We have completed a number of projects for Multiflight, including two large aircraft hangars as part of a development to improve private aircraft facilities at Leeds Bradford International Airport. We have a long association with Rolls-Royce plc and have worked together across a number of different sites, delivering over 100 design-and-build and commission-only projects from small external works to brand new multi-million pound facilities. At a business park close to Head Office in Skipton, we designed and built a new bespoke production facility with integral offices and amenity accommodation for this leading supplier of complex precision machined components.

At JN Bentley we pride ourselves on delivering quality craftsmanship to our aerospace clients, which have included Leeds Bradford Airport and Multiflight.

Our experience includes:

  • Aprons
  • Taxiways
  • Terminal forecourts and buildings
  • Aircraft hangars
  • Production facilities
  • Mechanical, electrical, instrumentation,
  • control and automation works
  • Access roads and car parks
  • Ancillary works, including security, infrastructure and utilities, fuel storage and landscaping

We are accustomed to working in operational airside environments, particularly through our work at Leeds Bradford Airport and the British Aerospace site at Broughton, near Chester. We have significant experience of carrying out concrete paving works, including runway aprons and taxiways.

Through our experience of working with clients in this sector, we understand their requirements for carrying out works with minimal disruption to their customers.

We are also experienced in delivering projects that meet exacting quality standards, evidenced not only through our airside projects but for work with aviation suppliers including Rolls-Royce, the Metal Improvement Company and Weston EU.

Leeds Bradford Airport

We have delivered numerous projects at Leeds Bradford Airpoirt, upgrading the facilities for an enhanced customer experience.

Works have included the expansion of the aircraft parking apron, new access roads and car parking. We also constructed a large surface water attenuation lagoon with outfall structures, soakaways, and extensive drainage via interceptors from the main car parks and access road.

We have completed a number of projects for Multiflight as part of a developments to improve private aircraft facilities at LBIA.

One of the largest projects was the construction of two new aircraft hangars together with associated drainage and external works. The works included foundations, detailed design and erection of steelwork, reinforced concrete floor slab, detailed design and erection of roof and wall cladding, hangar doors and mechanical and electrical services.

We carried out the design and construction of a new 7,000m² compression facility to replace their existing machine shop.

Enabling works ahead of the main contract included diversion of overhead power lines and diversion of the high voltage network. Following on from this we constructed a portal frame extension of the Wide Chord Fan Blade Module 2 building. The third structure in the package was the design and construction of a new portal frame facility to house a de-bonding process for jet engine fan blades.

Weston EU

The project involved the design and construction of a new bespoke production facility with integral offices and amenity accommodation at the West Craven Business Park, Earby, Lancashire.

The project involved significant earthworks, sub-structure and superstructure works. We provided full ‘turn-key’ internal fit out and services installations, as well as all associated external hard and soft landscaping. The scheme involved extensive drainage works via a series of silt traps and oil interceptors and a foul pump station.

Metal Improvement Company

The contract was to design and construct a 175,000ft² factory (Inc. office and amenity accommodation), adjacent to an operational airfield on the British Aerospace site, near Chester.

We undertook all site investigation, feasibility, design and construction of the new facility which supplies wings for the new generation of Airbus Aircraft. The factory was completed three weeks ahead of programme, and was the third contract that we have completed for the client. The project involved the integration of a large number of complex machine bases, gantry cranes and ‘rail tracks’ to accommodate a number of different machines.
