We have worked closely with the likes of Leeds City Council and Bradford Metropolitan District Council on schools programmes and with Leeds NHS Trust on a range of health sector projects.

We have managed both refurbishment and new build projects and pride ourselves on being able to deliver from design through to completion.

Leeds Teaching Hospitals

Our works at Leeds General Infirmary have included the renovation and improvement to the Jubilee Wing public toilets, as well as strip-out works in the basement.

The hospital was fully operational during the works, with very tight working areas, restricted access and strict controls on elements such as deliveries. The client instigated a strict ‘Permit to Work’ system to ensure that the interface between the work activities and third parties was managed effectively to avoid risk of injury.

Following the stripping-out works, the basement area received new ceilings, decorations, internal fit-out and floor finishes.

Highfield Day Care Centre

The project saw the construction of a new adult day opportunities resource centre on the site of the former Highfield Special School in Edgerton, Huddersfield.

The new centre provides a state-of-the-art, high quality building which is fully accessible, both internally and externally, for people with learning disabilities.

It was the aim of our client to produce a sustainable development within the constraints of the site and budget, through the use of materials with low impact on the environment as well as renewable energy technologies.

Skipton Children's Centre

Works at Skipton Children’s Centre involved the demolition of an existing single storey nursery annex to make way for a new two-storey children's centre.

The structure is traditional masonry and slate roof construction around a steel frame and provides a new reception and waiting area, three large multi-purpose rooms, a main school office, seven consultation rooms, a new school kitchen, several WCs with baby change facilities and disabled WC.

A number of playrooms were also provided, together with separate kitchenettes, two new classrooms, a new staff room facility with a further three offices.

Hanningfield Multi-User Building

The new multi-user building at Hanningfield Reservoir provides boat users with permanent changing and welfare facilities, and Northumbrian Water Group staff with much-needed storage space and mess rooms.

The building, which sits adjacent to a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI), is fully DDA compliant, with independent design reviews undertaken to ensure every aspect of the building fulfils its multi-use function. Minimising the building’s energy use footprint was key. Using Simple Building Energy Modelling (SBEM) we ensured that construction detailing and material specification met these requirements, including heating provided by an air source heat pump.

South Craven Skills Centre

The project involved the design and construction of a new two-storey school building to accommodate a sixth form ‘skills centre’.

Working within the grounds of a large secondary school and adjacent to a mixture of residential property and small businesses, the new building is based around a structural steel frame on a combination of a mass concrete strip and pad foundations, with a ground bearing concrete floor and an in-situ concrete/steel first floor.
