Yorwaste

We have a long-standing relationship with Yorwaste which dates back to the 1990s, which included the construction of a new leachate treatment plant.

The scope of the works for the project comprised of the construction of nearly 2.5km of 125mm sewer running from Skibeden Landfill Site to the foulwater manhole in Regent Road, Skipton. Laid in the verge of a major highway, road crossings were constructed, together with access points and connections into existing sewer infrastructure.

Waste Recycling Group

Our work with Waste Recycling Group has seen us deliver landfill facilities across the Yorkshire, East Midlands and North East regions, constructing waste cells, capping works and infrastructure schemes.

Our landfill works involved hundreds of thousands of tonnes of bulk earthmoving.

For example, at Welbeck Landfill Site, located in West Yorkshire, the site was the subject of sand and gravel workings and subsequent overfilling with colliery spoil from Sharlston Colliery and the Selby Coalfield, so JN Bentley was engaged to construct three new cells. The work was completed by means of cut/fill of materials to specified formation levels, and installation of a composite lining system.

SITA UK

We undertook compound works at Path Head Landfill Site to allow SITA UK to open the new 5million m³ capacity facility in accordance with their operational needs for waste void space.

The project was delivered as part of an Alliance framework agreement with SITA UK in the North-East of England. The brief was to design and construct the compound infrastructure to facilitate the operation of the site and satisfy all regulatory requirements including PPC, Planning and Building Regulations.

We utilised recycled stone in gabions used in retaining walls, and provided a new ecological habitat for Sandmartins and Dingy Skipper Butterfly, in liaison with the county ecologist.

Bradford Metropolitan District Council

We have undertaken a number of household waste recycling centre projects, both as new build projects and as extension or refurbishment schemes.

For example, works at the Golden Butts site included clearance works, new build construction of reinforced concrete skip bunkers, retaining walls, elevated access roads with approach and exit ramps and hard-standing areas. Following completion of the new household waste recycling centre, the old adjacent recycling centre was converted and refurbished into a new council depot.
