To facilitate the training of their linesmen, we worked with National Grid to construct a new training overhead line at their training facility at Eakring, Nottinghamshire.

We repaired 40m of river bank along the River Yarty in Devon to protect pipework, which had the potential to be exposed through fluvial erosion during abnormally high water levels.

At Alrewas Gas Compressor Station, where we carried out remedial works and inspections to critical valve and pipeline facilities, the team enjoyed unprecedented success in receiving two 100% audit scores. The scope of works consisted of inspections to the vent and sealant lines with remedial works undertaken as required. A number of pit wall transitions were also inspected, again with the possibility of remedial works taking place. Finally, we undertook painting and re-coating of sections of small bore pipework to bring them up to standard.

To facilitate the training of their linesmen, National Grid proposed the construction of a new training overhead line at their training facility at Eakring, Nottinghamshire. The proposal comprised eight new T-Pylon test structures. The line spans approximately 1km over undulating land, which had previously been used for agricultural purposes. In order for this work to be undertaken and for the future maintenance and testing works, enabling works were required, including the provision of access tracks to each pylon location.

River Yarty Repairs
The purpose of the project was to repair around a 40m stretch of the River Yarty river bank in Devon. The project's aim was to protect pipework in close proximity to the river, which had the potential to be exposed through fluvial erosion during abnormally high water levels. As part of the repair solution we rebuilt the rock revetment at the toe of the bank and relay, and fully compact the bank itself to provide significant protection of the pipework.

We currently work with Cadent Gas who own and operate the largest gas distribution network in the UK, supplying 11 million homes and businesses across the North West and East of England, West Midlands and North London.

Having completed two large batches of gas valve remediation, in 2021 we were asked to carry out improvement works to cover and protect a vulnerable section of a high-pressure pipeline.

We are also building a relationship with Magnox, the organisation responsible for the safe and secure clean-up of 12 nuclear sites owned by the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority. Having upgraded two pumping stations, in 2022 we were awarded a further contract to upgrade the sewage treatment works at the same site.

Prior to this, we began working with National Grid on the Gas Asset Health framework in early 2014. The framework involved mechanical, electrical and civil engineering across National Grid’s portfolio of UK assets, and evolved to include ‘design and build’ delivery.

We have also delivered a number of projects through National Grid's Minor Civils framework, undertaking works such as concrete slabs, access tracks, gantry/metalwork installations and fencing/walling.

Energy

Our work in the energy sections comprises recent projects with Cadent Gas and National Grid, focusing on projects to improve their civil infrastructure.
