Mott MacDonald Bentley (MMB) colleagues enjoyed a week of celebrations alongside colleagues from Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water (DCWW), reflecting on our joint success during AMP7 (2020-2025) and looking ahead to the future of AMP8 (2025-2030).
MMB office-based colleagues in Wales joined colleagues from DCWW for a full day session held at Cardiff City Football Club, whilst our site-based colleagues attended two half-day sessions at Swansea City Football Club and The Beaches Hotel.
Hosted by a group of MMB’s Operations Managers, the events included a range of workshops covering key topics relevant to successful project delivery, such as service strike avoidance, setting and evaluating key performance indicators (KPIs), delivering commercial savings, and minimum viable solutions (MVS).
The workshops involved an introductory talk from the two hosts in each, followed by quizzes and team activities. Topics such as health and safety were brought to life through real examples which encouraged colleagues to analyse risks and consider future learnings. With a huge variety of job roles and disciplines in attendance, the sessions invoked lots of discussion, opinions, and questions.
Colleagues were then privileged to receive an inspirational talk from former Wales Rugby Captain, Ryan Jones. Ryan discussed his career, the qualities of a good leader and teammate, and the importance of teamwork both in sports and in the workplace. He spoke about the challenges he has faced both personally, including a diagnosis of early onset dementia, and professionally, in coping with major losses when playing rugby. He explained how we can learn from and overcome challenges we all face in life and at work if we have the right attitude and mentality.

MMB Director, Dan Buxton, commented:
"It was fantastic to see everyone come together in person to reflect on our achievements and look ahead to what promises to be a busy and fulfilling AMP8. Last year, MMB were pleased to secure a new framework with DCWW that will see us deliver a variety of schemes across the region over the next eight years. We are looking forward to continuing to provide affordable, innovative solutions for our client and their customers and are fully committed to meeting the challenges facing the sector head-on through AMP8 and beyond."
MMB’s presence in Wales has grown significantly since securing its first framework back in AMP6. It directly employs over 270 colleagues in the country across all roles, from frontline construction to design and management positions. It boasts strong links with local supply chains, which have been integral to the company’s growth allowing delivery of over £300m of work in the region since 2015.
